According to the Maine State Police, Seth Tozier, 33, of Winslow was traveling southbound last night, July 21, when he rear-ended a vehicle in front of him.
Tozier’s car left the road and came to a stop in the trees on the left-hand side of the road. The vehicle Tozier hit was a pickup truck driven by Billi Gunderson, of North Dakota. The impact of the crash caused her truck to leave I-95 and land upside down in a ditch on the right-hand side of the road. Gunderson was ejected from the truck causing her significant injuries.
Lifeflight was called but was not able to fly due to weather conditions. Lifeflight’s ground crew responded and transported Gunderson to Eastern Maine Medical Center where she is in critical condition.
Tozier, who was not injured, was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence. He was taken to the Somerset County Jail.
Traffic on the Interstate was shut down at the Pittsfield exit and reopened after the scene was cleared.
Maine State Police continue to investigate and reconstruct the crash.
