Last night, March 1, 2022 the Palmyra Fire Department responded to reports of a residential fire/explosion on Meadow Lane in Palmyra.

Five people were in the house at the time of the fire and were able to escape. Two of them received burn injuries. One had to be hospitalized. The house is a complete loss.

The Fire Marshal’s Office were contacted at approximately 8:30 p.m. and a team of investigators responded to begin an investigation. They returned today to process the scene and continue their investigation. The FMO investigators were assisted by Maine State Police and Somerset County SO.

Responding Fire Departments were Palmyra, Hartland, St. Albans, Canaan, Corinna, Detroit, Newport and Dexter.

Also assisting on scene was Newport Ambulance and Clinton Rescue.

This is an active investigation.
