38th Annual Trek Across Maine Kicks Off Friday

The 38th annual Trek Across Maine will kick off this Friday, June 17, launching a weekend of riding in support of lung education, advocacy and research to help prevent and treat lung-related illnesses.

The Trek Across Maine is back in person for the first time since 2019, having gone virtual in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19. Cyclists will begin the three-day, 180-mile ride on June 17 at 7 a.m. at Thomas Point Beach & Campground in Brunswick.

Riders will have their first overnight stop at Bates College in Lewiston. Friday rest stops include the Seacoast United Soccer Field, L.L. Bean and the Durham Community Center.

On Saturday morning, riders will leave Bates College with rest stops at Chipman Farm, the Casco town hall and Sebago United Methodist Church before arriving at their second overnight stop, Saint Joseph’s College. The Spirit of the Trek will take place at 5 p.m. to celebrate the work the Trek Across Maine supports as well as cyclists, teams and volunteers.

Cyclists will ride from Saint Joseph’s College back to Thomas Point Beach & Campground on Sunday with rest stops at Bruns Brothers, Pownal Elementary School and the Casco Bay YMCA and team staging at Flight Deck Brewing. Riders are expected to arrive at the finish line at Thomas Point Beach & Campground between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
