As kids are heading back to school, some districts are proposing new cellphone policies. A plan to limit cellphones and other devices in Lewiston schools for grades K-8 is getting closer to being a reality.
According to the Sun Journal, the Lewiston School Committee unanimously approved a policy that would take cellphones out of elementary school and middle school kids’ hands during the school day. The rule would not apply to high school students. They would be allowed to use their phones during breaks and lunch.
A final vote is expected at the next school committee meeting, Monday, August 29
The proposed policy would prohibit students from taking photos, videos and recordings in school without staff permission. Officials say their primary motive is to crack down on bullying. https://t.co/HqoiOEAgaI
