The Maine Department of Public Safety has released crime statistics for Maine for 2024. Crime has decreased in the state for a fourth consecutive year.

For every 1,000 people in the state, there were 29 crimes committed.

Homicides were down to 31 from 60, however that high number in 2023 includes 18 deaths from the Lewiston mass shooting.

12 deaths in 2024 resulted from domestic violence.
