Fairfield Police say a motor vehicle crash involving a car and a pedestrian occurred Friday afternoon, Jan. 9.

The crash is under investigation.

From the Fairfield Police Department:

On 1/9/2026, at about 4:38 PM, Fairfield Police and Fairfield-Benton Emergency Services were dispatched to Main Street in the area of the Post Office for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a car and a pedestrian. The initial investigation showed that Dana Dodge 49, of Fairfield was crossing Main Street outside of a crosswalk and wearing dark clothing when he was struck by a vehicle operated by Sean McGlaughlin 39, also of Fairfield. Dodge was transported to Maine General Medical Center by Delta Ambulance and later transferred to Maine Medical Center with life threatening injuries. McGlaughlin was not injured in the crash. The crash is being reconstructed by Maine State Police. Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the crash. There are no charges at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
