Sunday, Jan. 25, it’s the Women’s Winter Outdoor Skills Day hosted by the the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife at the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine Outdoor Center in Augusta, 8:30am to 2pm.
The event is part of the Maine Outdoor Programs, an initiative of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, that provides hands-on learning experiences for people of all ages and skill levels to connect with the outdoors. Whether you’re looking to build new skills or strengthen existing ones, our programs offer opportunities to explore hunting, fishing, trapping, outdoor preparedness, and wildlife viewing in a welcoming environment.
Choose a morning session and an afternoon session:
- Ice Fishing
- Clay Target Shotgun Shooting
- Snowshoe Winter Forest Nature Hike (Bring your snowshoes!)
- Learn to Hunt
- Wild Game Cooking
- Intro to Beaver Trapping
Pack a lunch, hydration and don’t forget the sunscreen! The experienced instructors will provide support and encouragement, making the outdoors accessible and enjoyable for all.
