The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Innocent Muzungu of Bangor, has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a resident, Jan. 31.

On January 31, 2026, at approximately 4:50 pm, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential group home in Hermon, Maine, following a report of an assault on a resident by an employee. Upon the deputies’ arrival, it was established that the victim would be transported to the hospital.
The Criminal Investigation Division of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into the assault complaint and determined that 26-year-old Innocent Muzungu, of Bangor, Maine, would be charged with Intentionally Endangering the Welfare of a Dependent Person (Class C Felony), Assault (Class D Misdemeanor), and Obstructing the Report of a Crime (Class D Misdemeanor). Muzungu was subsequently arrested and remanded to the Penobscot County Jail. The investigation remains active, and no additional information will be disclosed at this time.
