MSAD 75 Monday, Feb. 2, made the decision to issue a district-wide school cancellation following a series of threats received through the voice messaging system in four of their schools.

Heidi O’Leary, Superintendent of Schools MSAD No. 75:

Upon learning of the threats, the district quickly moved into action, working with law enforcement while also communicating with families about what was happening. At this time, an investigation is ongoing, though we can confirm that no one has been hurt and our school buildings have been cleared. The safety of our students, staff, and community remains our highest priority.

The threats consisted of voice messages claiming explosive devices were present at schools across the district. According to O’Leary, Topsham Police Chief Marc Hagan has since stated that the threats are not considered credible and there is no ongoing danger to the public. However, the district must treat all such threats as credible until law enforcement officially clears every building. Which they have done.

Law enforcement has already conducted thorough sweeps of our buildings and have deemed all of the buildings safe. The investigation continues with local police and the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office to identify the origin of these calls.
