Hang on, spring can not be too far away. Sunday, March 8, we will revert to Daylight Saving Time.
At 2:00 am, March 8, clocks will jump forward to 3:00 am., meaning most people will “spring forward” before going to bed on Saturday, March 7.
This change brings later sunsets and marks the start of the spring season’s longer afternoons.
Globally, Daylight Saving Time use has varied. About 70 countries currently observe it, primarily in North America and Europe, while most of Africa and Asia do not.
Debate over Daylight Saving Time persists. Proponents argue it saves energy and boosts evening commerce, while critics cite health disruptions (like sleep pattern changes) and question its modern relevance, given studies showing negligible energy savings.
The Sunshine Protection Act, a federal bill first introduced in 2018, would make U.S. daylight saving time permanent. The bill has never been signed into law despite multiple attempts in Congress.
