The Maine Department of Transportation has planned a vehicle procession and memorial event, Saturday, Feb. 28, to honor the memory of James Brown and Dwayne Campbell.
Brown and Campbell were MDOT employees lost in a work-zone incident on I-95 on Jan. 13.
The memorial procession will begin at the MaineDOT Fairfield Training Center and go to the Augusta Civic Center. The procession will include vehicles from MaineDOT, regional partners, and departments of transportation from across and beyond New England.
Following the procession, MaineDOT will host a memorial ceremony at the Civic Center. The Maine State Police Pipe and Drum Corps will perform in remembrance of their fellow public service colleagues. Attendees are asked to enter through the North Wing.
The procession will depart Fairfield and travel south on I-95 at 12:00 noon. Motorists along the interstate may experience brief impacts.
The memorial service will begin at 1:15 p.m. in the Civic Center’s Grand Ballroom. Seating will be limited to the venue’s capacity of 500 attendees.
Parking at the Augusta Civic Center is limited; early arrival is encouraged.
