Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men Tuesday morning, March 3, after witnessing gunfire coming from a passing vehicle on West Gray Road in Gray.
Just after 1:00am, while conducting stationary traffic enforcement, a marked sheriff’s cruiser observed muzzle flashes and heard gunshots from a moving vehicle. The deputy promptly initiated a high-risk traffic stop with assistance from other officers in the area.
All occupants complied with commands and exited the vehicle peacefully; they were detained for questioning.
Investigators determined that 26-year-old Jacob Murray of Scarborough, was the individual firing handguns from inside the moving vehicle.
Authorities stated there were no specific targets, and the other passengers were not involved in the shooting.
Murray was arrested and charged with Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon.
Austin Teras (age not specified in the release) was also arrested and charged with the same offense.
Deputies recovered two firearms, five handgun magazines, and multiple spent shell casings from the vehicle.
The incident remains under investigation.
