From the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office:
On March 25, 2026, Deputies and Detectives from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and the Criminal Investigation Division conducted an investigation into the whereabouts of 41-year-old Donald Searway of Glenburn, Maine, who had arrest warrants for his arrest and failed to report to jail for a two-year prison sentence.
Searway, who was not in jail at the time of the guilty plea, had been found guilty on September 29, 2025, and failed to report to jail for his sentence, prompting the Penobscot County Jail to file an affidavit for failure to report. An arrest warrant was granted, and Probation and Parole conditions were initiated. Detectives and Patrol Deputies observed Searway in a vehicle on Union Street in Hermon and eventually stopped the vehicle on Billings Road in Hermon. During the traffic stop, Searway was immediately arrested on active warrants. Additionally, Searway was charged with Unlawful Possession of Schedule W Drugs (fentanyl) and held on a probation violation. Another passenger in the vehicle, 47-year-old Curt Leighton of Corinth, Maine, was charged with Unlawful Possession of Schedule W Drugs (fentanyl) and released from the scene.
