Last week, the state legislature’s budget committee agreed to support starting a statewide school cellphone ban.
The $350,000 proposal would prohibit students from using their cellphones or smart devices from the start to the end of the school day.
The measure would still need to pass the House and Senate before it would head to Governor Mills for approval.
If passed, the ban take effect at the beginning of next school year.
Maine could be joining a growing number of states banning cellphones during school hours after a key budget committee approved funding for a so-called "bell-to-bell ban." What do you think about this?
