A Very Bad Day for One Man at Yellowstone National Park [VIDEO]

A warning that this video is graphic but should serve as a learning moment for anyone visiting a park that contains wild animals.

The original title of the story was going to be, “Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes“, but I decided not to take a chance on offending anyone, although I believe that title would have been apropos.

A tourist was seriously injured after a bull bison charged and tossed him several feet into the air at Yellowstone National Park’s Bridge Bay Campground on Friday.

The frightening attack, captured on video, happened as the man was walking with his grandson. Footage shows the pair trying to flee as the bison suddenly charged, striking the man with its head and throwing him roughly eight feet into the air.

Photographer Mike MacLeod, who witnessed the incident, said he had been filming the bison as it rolled in the dirt when it unexpectedly became aggressive. After the animal charged a nearby group of children, MacLeod said he ran toward it, yelling to distract it because he feared it would continue attacking the injured man.

Once the bison moved away, MacLeod and several bystanders rushed in to help the victim.

Park officials routinely remind visitors to stay at least 25 yards away from bison, which can appear calm but are capable of charging without warning.
