aused substantial damage to a garage.
Investigators spent most of the day at the scene. The investigation established that 44-year-old Alison Trask of Palmyra started the fire during the early morning hours. Trask was taken into custody without incident, at the scene, and charged with Arson, Reckless Conduct, and Aggravated Criminal Mischief.
Trask is currently on probation for a prior drug offense. She was transported to the Somerset County Jail.
The residence was not being lived in at the time of the fire. There was an apartment over the garage that was occupied. Trask was living in the apartment with her boyfriend. Two other people were also in the apartment at the time of the fire. No one was injured.
The Hartland Fire Department responded and was assisted by the Canaan Fire Department, St. Albans Fire Department, Pittsfield Fire Department, Detroit Fire Department, Newport Fire Department, Corinna Fire Department, and Dexter Fire Department.
Investigators were assisted during the investigation by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Transportation.
