A Maine Game Warden and a search team from the Maine Association for Search and Rescue has located the body of 71-year-old Francine Laporte of Saint George. She was found at approximately 10:00am today, Dec. 9.
Laporte was found deceased in the water on the shore of Long Cove, off of the States Point Road in Saint George. The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy will take place.
Laporte had been reported missing to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office by her husband Paul on December 7th after she left her house on foot and never returned and the Sheriff’s Office notified the Warden Service.
The Warden Service was assisted throughout the search by the Knox Sheriff’s Department, Maine Marine Patrol, Maine State Police and State Police Underwater Recovery Team, the Tenant’s Harbor’s Fire Department, the Maine Association for Search and Rescue, Maine Search and Rescue Dogs, US Border Patrol, Rockland Fire Department, United States Coast Guard and the Town of Saint George.
