Somerset County Sheriff’s Corporal Eugene Cole was killed in the line of duty in 2018.

A scholarship fund was established as a way for Cole’s family, friends and law enforcement brothers and sisters to continue his passion for the field.

The scholarship is open to anyone in the state of Maine pursuing a career in law enforcement or any branch of service. It is worth more than $5,000.

Cole’s daughter Jill said:

This scholarship was created in honor of my dad, who was killed in the line of duty in April 2018. He dedicated his life to serving others, and we want to continue that legacy by supporting those who feel called to do the same.

Application deadline is April 20.
