Maine to Restrict Vulgar Vanity License Plates

The Maine State Senate today, June 8, backed a plan to restore restrictions on vulgar and obscene Maine license plates.

The bill from Sen. Bill Diamond, would according to the Bangor Daily News, remove about 400 plates currently in use.

If the bill becomes law, the state can withdraw or refuse vanity plates that among other things encourage violence or includes obscenities, derogatory references or sexual acts.
