Podcast host Joe Rogan reveals he has COVID-19 and taking Ivermectin to treat symptoms

Podcast host Joe Rogan has contracted COVID-19. The 54-year-old host of “The Joe Rogan Experience” shared the news that he’d become ill over the weekend and tested positive for the virus, requiring him to postpone a comedy show in Nashville set for Friday.

Rogan said in a video on Instagram: “So, I got back from the road Saturday night feeling very weary, and I had a headache. I just felt run down. Just to be cautious, I separated from my family, slept in a different part of the house.” Rogan then began experiencing fevers and other severe symptoms, prompting him to get tested. After he received the positive diagnosis, his doctors “immediately threw the kitchen sink at it” with several different medications, including the controversial Ivermectin. (Ivermectin is an anti-parasitic drug used for livestock like horses and cows, which the Food and Drug Administration has strongly advised Americans against using to treat COVID-19.) Rogan told his followers in his video Wednesday that he had also used monoclonal antibody infusion therapy, vitamin drips, and azithromycin as treatment.

Rogan has been outspoken about the Covid-19 vaccination, and on his podcast he has criticized COVID-19 vaccination cards and vaccination mandates that have been put in place across the country. According to Rogan, institutions are implementing these requirements “because they’re dumb.mThey don’t understand history, they don’t understand human beings, they don’t understand human nature,” he said. “They don’t understand the history of every single country that’s ever existed other than the United States.”

Date for Health Care Workers to Meet COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement Extended

The Mills Administration today, Sept. 2, announced that it will begin enforcement of its COVID-19 vaccination requirement for health care workers on Oct. 29. This provides an additional month for health care workers to complete their vaccination protocol and for health care organizations to use $146 million in forthcoming funds to address workforce needs.

From Maine.gov:

‘It is urgent that employees in health care settings get vaccinated as the Delta variant causes hospitals, nursing homes, and other organizations to lose staff and capacity due to isolation and quarantine and, in some cases, serious illness,’ said Commissioner Jeanne Lambrew of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, and Nirav D. Shah, Director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. ‘The extra time allows those health care workers who prefer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, which received its full approval on August 23, three weeks to get the first shot and still be fully vaccinated by October 29.’

Maine will be distributing $146 million in State and Federal funding to nursing facilities, certain residential care facilities, adult family care homes, and hospitals to support workforce recruitment and retention efforts as they grapple with workforce shortages resulting primarily from exposure to the COVID-19 virus and longstanding labor shortages. The Maine Department of Health and Human Services will begin issuing the payments this month to support these facilities prior to the Administration beginning enforcement of the rule.

Eight dead as New York City, New Jersey experience historic, mass flooding due to remnants of Hurricane Ida

New York City and New Jersey was slammed with heavy rain overnight and into Thursday morning, causing historic, mass flooding due to the remnants of hurricane Ida earlier. The storm hit the Northeast as a post-tropical cyclone on Wednesday after making landfall in Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane on Sunday. The historic rain halted subway service and destroyed homes in New Jersey. At least eight deaths were reported from the flooding, seven in New York City and one in Passaic, N.J.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Passaic, NJ Mayor Hector Lora all issued states of emergency as the National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings for New York and southern New England. “We’re enduring an historic weather event tonight with record breaking rain across the city, brutal flooding and dangerous conditions on our roads,” de Blasio said via Twitter. “Please stay off the streets tonight and let our first responders and emergency services get their work done.” He urged New Yorkers not to drive and stay off subway trains, and videos showed subways and streets flooded.

Early Thursday, the city’s official emergency notification system issued a travel ban until 5 a.m., stating “all non-emergency vehicles must be off NYC streets and highways.” The Metropolitan Transportation Authority told residents that they “strongly recommended” the public avoid traveling.
