The Maine Warden Service is investigating a fatal ATV accident in Madrid involving a Connecticut man who lost control and crashed his ATV.
Sebastian Constantini, 47, of Oxford, CT, was riding on ITS (Interconnected Trail System) 84/89, which is on the Potato Hill Road in Madrid, with his brother and a friend. Constantini was riding alone, and his brother and friend were on separate ATVs following him. The three were returning to the Saddleback Inn in Rangeley after a day of riding.
According to Mark Latti, MDIFW Communications Director:
Sebastian was leading the group, down an incline, then across a wooden bridge when he lost control as he came off the bridge and onto the trail. Sebastian, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his ATV, and suffered injuries to his head and neck. His brother witnessed the crash, and immediately rendered emergency medical aid while his friend went to get help. North Star Ambulance responded to the crash, but was unable to help Sebastian who died at the scene.
Multiple Game Wardens, including a Warden forensic mapper, and a Sergeant with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The initial investigation indicates that speed was a factor in the crash. Wardens were aided at the scene by the Phillips Fire Department and Koob’s Garage.
