Last night, Jan. 31, investigators from the Fire Marshal’s office responded to a residential fire at 59 Kennebec Road in Hampden.
One deceased adult was discovered inside the residence. The remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be conducted later today.
The deceased is believed to be 71-year-old Paul Spaulding who lived alone at the residence.
Work will be completed to confirm the identity of the remains. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
