Fairfield Police say an 18-year-old Stonington woman this morning, Aug. 26, was hit by a trash truck on Norridgewock Road in Fairfield and was ejected from her vehicle because her seat belt failed.

A 33-year-old South China man was driving the trash truck and was unable to avoid hitting the car. Both vehicles then went off the road and down an embankment.

The 18-year-old and her passenger were both taken to Thayer Hospital. They were both treated and released. The truck driver suffered minor injuries.
