Kilo of Fentanyl Seized in Corinna

As part of an ongoing investigation into the importation of fentanyl into Maine from Massachusetts, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency has arrested two men in Corinna and charged them with Class A drug trafficking offenses.

From the Maine State Police:

On Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at approximately 8:00 pm, investigators from MDEA’s North Central Task Force along with the Maine State Police Tactical Team and Deputies from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant on a residence located at Maple Ridge Mobile Home Park in Corinna. This search warrant was the result of an on-going MDEA investigation related to the importation and sale of significant amounts of fentanyl transported to Maine by out of state traffickers for redistribution throughout Penobscot County.

The investigation included the undercover purchase of fentanyl from the mobile home. Seized during the search warrant was over 1 kilogram of suspected fentanyl along with $1600 in suspected drug proceeds. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $165,0000.

Arrested and charged thus far in connection with this investigation are David Ireland, 61, of Corinna and Carlos Daniel Del Jesus Garcia, 22, of Lawrence, Massachusetts and the Dominican
Republic. Both men were transported to the Penobscot County Jail where they are currently being held without bail.
