Morgan Wallen has dropped a re-recorded version of “Spin You Around” after it came to light that an unauthorized edition of his 2015 EP, Stand Alone, was being released by his previous label and managers.

Wallen shared his frustration on social media, saying: “It’s gross, greedy and an example of how the dark side of the music business can suck the soul out of artists”.  Wallen said he wanted to inform fans that the investors and managers who helped make debut album were planning to release a “10th Anniversary” edition; but according to Wallen, the updated version will include eight unreleased songs that are “not my idea nor to my standards.” Wallen wrote, “For months I’ve been exploring every avenue possible to acquire the rights to this old music & keep the quality of my catalog consistent with songs I choose to release & believe in. I want you to know this is NOT my new music & I don’t want to see this happen to anyone else. I cringe when I listen to these songs & I’m concerned my fans may mistakenly believe this is a new release by me. I begin recording my next project at the end of February. I’m feeling inspired creatively & super excited to make more music I’m proud of.”

Wallen also said he is donating $100k from theMorgan Wallen Foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals For The Artsprogram, saying that he hopes this will help up-and-coming artists gain the legal advice they need when considering record deals and handling contracts for the first time: “I hope young aspiring musicians read this story and know they should never have to give up their creative freedoms for an opportunity in this business”.

Of his revamped rendition of ‘Spin You Around (1/24)’, Wallen shared:  “I re-recorded ‘Spin You Around (1/24)’ this week in Nashville…Thank you Joey Moi & Bryan Sutton …I did the artwork myself while in the woods duck hunting. Hope you like it, lol”.
