32-year-old Dakota Clifford has been arrested, accused of shooting at a woman in Brownfield, before creating an hour-long standoff with police.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence incident involving firearms at a home on Wakefield Road, March 4.

Clifford reportedly fired shots at a woman and both inside and outside of the home. The victim was not injured.

Officials say that Clifford remained in the residence and was eventually arrested. He has been charged with aggravated reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence terrorizing.

On March 4th, 2026 and at approximately 5:45pm Oxford County Sheriff’s Deputies, the Maine State Police and Fryeburg Rescue responded to a residence on Wakefield Road in Brownfield for a reported domestic violence incident involving firearms. Reports indicated that a male subject was in possession of firearms, that he had fired multiple rounds both inside and outside of the residence and at the adult female victim; the victim successfully fled the scene uninjured. The male subject remained inside the residence. Deputies and Troopers arrived and secured the immediate area. Law enforcement worked to establish a perimeter, they obtained a search warrant for the residence and an arrest warrant for the suspect. The Maine State Police Tactical Team responded to the scene as did other additional resources. On March 5th, 2026 at approximately 12:15am, 32-year-old Dakota Clifford was arrested and charged with Aggravated Reckless Conduct w/Dangerous Weapon and Domestic Violence Terrorizing. Deputies recovered a number of firearms and other evidence related to this incident. Clifford was transported to the Oxford County Jail where he was booked into the facility. Neither the victim nor Clifford suffered any injuries during this event. This case involved many law enforcement officers including deputies, troopers, detectives, hostage negotiators, tactical team operators, rescue personnel and dispatchers; this event lasted approximately 6 hours before it successfully ended with Clifford’s arrest. The case is still under investigation. Dakota Clifford remains incarcerated at the Oxford County Jail pending further court proceedings.
