A 37-year-old woman was successfully revived Monday afternoon, April 13, after being pulled unconscious from the Androscoggin River in downtown Auburn.
Auburn Police and Fire personnel responded to a report of a body floating in the river between Main and Mill Streets. The first officers on scene quickly located the woman, pulled her to shore, and immediately began life-saving measures. They administered Narcan and performed CPR. The woman responded to the efforts, regained vital signs, and was transported by Auburn Fire Department to Central Maine Medical Center, where she is currently listed in stable condition.
The woman is described as a transient female; her identity has not been publicly released.
Auburn Police commended the rapid response of the officers and firefighters, saying their quick actions were instrumental in saving the woman’s life.
The incident remains under investigation.
