The Kennebunkport Police Department is warning the public about counterfeit $50 bills that are currently showing up in circulation.
Officials are warning businesses to stay vigilant by carefully checking all larger denominations. They recommend using a counterfeit detection marker and verifying key security features such as the safety strip and hologram.
The $50 bill shown in the image below is an obvious counterfeit, as it is marked “MOTION PICTURE PURPOSES” at the top.
