A 43-year-old Auburn woman was arrested early Saturday morning, April 25, after police say she struck a pedestrian while driving under the influence, leaving the man with serious injuries.
Auburn Police Department officers responded to a report of a male lying in the roadway near the entrance to Central Maine Community College on Turner Street at approximately 1:35am on April 26. Officers located a 40-year-old Auburn man suffering serious injuries from a motor vehicle collision. The vehicle remained on scene. The victim was transported first to Central Maine Medical Center and later transferred to Maine Medical Center for further treatment.
The driver, Alicia Weber, 43, of Auburn, was arrested at the scene and charged with Operating Under the Influence Causing Injury, a Class C felony. She was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail, where bail was set at $5,000 cash.
Turner Street was temporarily closed while officers processed the scene and conducted a crash reconstruction.
The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
