South Korean Military States North Korea Has Fired Three Unidentified Projectiles

According to South Korea’s military, North Korea fired at least three unidentified projectiles off its east coast early Monday.

Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement it detected the three launches made from a town in the North’s South Hamgyong province. The statement said South Korea’s military was monitoring North Korea for possible additional launches.

In recent days, North Korea said leader Kim Jong Un supervised two rounds of live-fire artillery exercises in its first weapons tests since late November. South Korea and some European countries protested against the launches.

Nuclear talks between Pyongyang and Washington have remained stalled since the second summit between Kim and President Trump in Vietnam in Hanoi ended without any agreement.

Taylor Swift has donated $1 million dollars to the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund, which supports the communities hit by a string of tornadoes which destroyed parts of Tennessee, as well as assist the nonprofits helping the victims.  Two tornadoes struck central Tennessee last week, leaving at least 24 people dead and hundreds of buildings destroyed.

“Nashville is my home and the fact that so many people have lost their homes and so much more in Middle Tennessee is devastating to me,” Swift posted on Instagram, encouraging her fans to donate what they could.

Other groups have donated funds to nonprofits on the ground, including the Tennessee Titans, which also chipped in $1 million. This isn’t the first time Swift has donated money toward relief efforts. In 2016, she also donated $1 million to Louisiana flood relief.

Court Allows Trump Administration To Block Migrants On Part Of Border

A federal appeals court has allowed the Trump administration to keep the “Remain in Mexico” policy in place in Texas and New Mexico while it prepared for a challenge by the Supreme Court.

However, the ruling by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco prevents the government from enforcing the policy unless the Supreme Court intervenes before March 12. The court said its decision last week to block to the policy will remain in effect for California and Arizona, as both states are under its jurisdiction.

The ruling gave the government more time to fight its legal battle to save the policy, but also means asylum seekers and migrants arriving at border points in California and Arizona will be allowed to await the outcomes of their cases in the United States. The appellate court last week upheld a lower court injunction stopping the policy, by which tens of thousands of asylum seekers remain in Mexico to await their U.S. hearings.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren Drops Out Of Presidential Race

Sen. Elizabeth Warren suspended her campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination on Thursday, two days after she failed to win a single state primary, including her home state of Massachusetts.

Warren made the announcement in a conference call with staff and supporters, saying:  “I know that when we set out, this was not what you ever wanted to hear. It is not the call I ever wanted to make. But I refuse to let disappointment blind me — or you — to what we’ve accomplished. This campaign became something special, and it wasn’t because of me. It was because of you. I am so proud of how you all fought this fight alongside me: You fought it with empathy and kindness and generosity — and of course, with enormous passion and grit.”

Warren consistently placed third and fourth on Super Tuesday and said the following day she would assess the future of her campaign. Michael Bloomberg, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Pete Buttigieg and entrepreneur Tom Steyer left the race in the days leading up to Super Tuesday, each endorsing Joe Biden.

HBO Max’s “Gossip Girl” Reboot Will Star Emily Alyn Lind In Lead Role

HBO Max has officially announced the first new member of the Gossip Girl reboot cast. Emily Alyn Lind will star in the forthcoming series, portraying a lead character in the series named Audrey, who “has been in a long term relationship and is beginning to wonder what more could be out there.” Lind has appeared in a slew of other projects, including Netflix’s The Babysitter and its sequel, and as the character Amanda Clarke on Revenge.  According to IMDb, her first role was in 2008’s The Secret Life of Bees, where she played a young version of Dakota Fanning’s character Lily.

Previously it was announced that the show is set eight years after the original Gossip Girl took place.  The show announced back in November that Kristen Bell would join the Gossip Girl cast once more as its OG narrator. The reboot will feature updates on what Serena, Blair, Nate, Dan, and the whole crew have been up to in the intervening years.
