The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central is investigating the death of 64-year-old Darryl Sanborn of Thomaston, whose body was discovered last week in Waldoboro more than ten days after he was last seen.

Sanborn was reported missing after he was last seen in Waldoboro on Sunday, April 5. On Tuesday, April 7, the Waldoboro Police Department requested assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit.

On Friday, April 17, a passerby walking on a dirt road off Wagner Bridge Road in Waldoboro found the body of an adult male. The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy. Authorities have since positively identified the deceased as Darryl Sanborn.

The cause and manner of death remain pending, according to the Maine State Police. Investigators have not identified any known danger to the public.
