Lewiston Police have arrested two teenagers in connection with a shooting that injured a 14-year-old boy on Thursday afternoon, May 7.
Officers responded to 4 Avon St. around 4:30pm, after receiving reports of screaming and multiple gunshots. Witnesses reported seeing several teenagers fleeing the area. Upon arrival, police located a 14-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to Central Maine Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.
Following an overnight investigation, Lewiston Police identified and arrested a 13-year-old juvenile male as the primary suspect. He has been charged with elevated aggravated assault, a Class A felony.
A second juvenile, a 15-year-old male, was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed Weapon, a handgun.
Both juveniles are being detained at the Long Creek Youth Development Center.
During the investigation, authorities recovered a total of three handguns. Two of the firearms were confirmed stolen. The investigation remains active, and police say additional charges may be filed.
